How long does it take to learn first aid?

These courses generally take about one day, usually around 6 or 7 hours of tuition with both theoretical and practical elements. Following such a course, a first aider will be trained to deal with the major emergency situations, such as giving CPR, and dealing with people who are choking or bleeding severely.

Here are the 5 Steps to First Aid:

  1. Recognise the emergency. Does someone look like they’re in trouble? …
  2. Call 911 if you think you should. …
  3. Ask them questions in case the situation escalates to unconsciousness. …
  4. Be kind and calm. …
  5. Be a Steward of the person.

Most first aid courses will teach you about different situations and how you can prevent them from occurring. These include knowing how to respond if you become the victim of a choking situation, learning how to stop a bleeding nose from becoming a wound, and learning to identify the different breathing patterns for different types of injuries.

Once you have your first aid training you will know how to respond appropriately in each situation.

First aid classes will also include classroom exercises. These are usually designed to help you gain a better understanding of how you should react in certain situations.

Exercises will include using the correct hand movements to apply pressure to an injury. The instructor will also let you know what steps to take in the event of a heart attack. It is important for you to know what you should do in these situations so that you will not make any mistakes.

Some other things that first aid courses will cover are the different types of medical devices. These can include the AED (automated external defibrillator), CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation), and defibrillators. These are all things that are very important to know in case of a medical emergency.
